- Senna Bakker, Customer Service Representative

Hi, can you introduce yourself?

My name is Senna Bakker, I am 23 years old and I have been working as a Customer Service Representative at Action Netherlands and Belgium since July 2018. My work mainly consists of assisting customers via telephone, mail and social media.

Why did you start working at Action?

Before I joined Action, I had had the same part-time job for 4 years. I was ready for something new. When Action came my way, I became very enthusiastic about the contact with customers and I was curious to discover my customer service skills. After a number of pleasant job interviews I was able to get started!

What surprised you the most when you started?

The collaboration in the team surprised me the most. You can reach out to all colleagues for help, which works very well.

What do you like most about your job at Customer Service?

The variety in the work makes it fun. For example, you are on the phone in the morning, doing emails in the afternoon and on social media at the end of the day. In addition, it offers opportunities to further specialize so that you can tackle more complex questions.

What do you find most challenging?

During busy times you have to be able to deal with stress and sometimes also with unfriendly customers. Fortunately, this doesn't happen often, but it can happen. It is sometimes quite difficult not to take it personally. Fortunately, our team leader helps us with this and there is always the possibility to end the conversation in a good way.

What career opportunities do you see within Action?

There is quite a bit of room to grow within the department itself. In the beginning, for example, I only answered the phone and email. After a year I also got the opportunity to pick up webcare. Once a year I follow a training that helps with customer focus. That is very instructive because you get feedback on the conversations and tools that you can apply.

What makes working on Customer Service at Action unique?

The team really listens to you, which is great. I also enjoy helping people and offering a listening ear. As a young person, I like that Action as an organization offers many career opportunities.

What should every new colleague know?

That you end up in a fun and friendly team! We all contribute to making sure every day is a celebration.
