A Unit Planning Manager steers a team of Supply Planners, allocators and support employees and oversees the allocation, and forecast and inventory planning process to optimize inventory stocking levels and to meet customer service objectives in their categories. 

Daily Activities

You will be responsible for overseeing the forecast and inventory planning process to optimize inventory stocking levels and to meet customer service objectives in assigned categories and managing the categories on an operational and tactical level. You will be responsible for setting up supplier performance monitoring structure and measuring Action’s cross-category supply chain performance, while you will be accountable for the capacity and resource plan development and improvement.

Moreover, you will prepare and communicate forecast and inventory measurements to management (forecast accuracy, inventory plan vs. targets), and monitor availability and service levels from suppliers to DC (supplier performance), at DC (inventory planning performance) and from DC to stores (overall DC performance)

You will be responsible for Projects by defining planning of and priorities within your Unit category projects and ensuring sufficient and capable resources.

You will participate in the MT Supply Chain Planning and in cross departmental meetings with Commerce, Store Operations and Supply Chain Managers (DC’s) to align and adjust forecast and inventory planning and to review recommended sales forecasts and inventory goals.

Additionally, you will be steering teams, improving employee skills by providing constructive feedback, making employees enthusiastic, stimulating them to join in on the thought process and to actively contribute to the development of new ideas, and influencing and convincing colleagues with and without hierarchy, but based upon a clear vision and facts & figures.

Who are you

You have strong communication and time management skills and you are flexible and self starting. You have strong problem solving and  influencing skills.
Furthermore you have: 

  • Educational level at Master’s degree
  • 8-10 years of relevant working experience in supply chain management/ planning, in an (international) retail environment/ or trading company.
  • Experience in managing teams
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Language skills: Business level English; Basic level Dutch
