This is your daily action

As the International H&S coordinator you report to the International H&S Manager, assuming a function with international scope on Health & Safety (H&S) across the group. In this role you will support and assist (senior) management in the field of health and safety so that the company meets its legal obligations for all countries, on a continuous improvement path leading to increasing H&S performance levels 

You are accountable for knowing, implementing, maintaining and improving the Health & Safety management framework and engage with all countries and departments abiding by and behaving in line with all H&S policies, procedures, programs and instructions. 

In order to be able to fulfil this role successfully, you are open minded and get energized by working in environments where you still need to build a lot.

Meet your team

Action has grown so rapidly that we have set out to transform our old-fashioned HR department into a strategic ‘centre of excellence’. Within our department, Recruitment is responsible for recruiting new Action employees for our international headquarters and our Dutch country office. Compensation & Benefits is responsible for anything related to salary, bonuses, lease cars and other employment conditions. Learning & Development organises training courses for colleagues working at our stores and distribution centres. HR Projects develops various projects aimed at increasing the added value of our HR department to the Action organisation and our Shared Service Centre provides various services to our country offices including payrolling. Finally, each support department has its own HR advisor focused on employee recruitment, internal and external mobility and departures and acts as an interface between the departments and our overarching HR team. This is you

As the International H&S coordinator within Action you are expected to influence others by developing, updating and explaining the H&S policies & procedures, while providing guidance, recommendations and support implementation. You are dynamic, flexible and a team player who is eager to learn and work in a fast paced international organization which deals well with “under pressure” scenarios. Besides that you have excellent project management, practical and straightforward approach, communication and problem solving skills.

  • Academic background in engineering, environmental, health and safety or related discipline 
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in total, out of which, at least 3 years in H&S field – experience in the environmental field is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of national and international European H&S regulations 
  • High capacity for objective reporting and lean approach to performance metrics (data driven) 
  • Knowledge in ISO 45001 H&S management systems and auditing preferred 
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English (other European languages are a plus)
