Senior Financial Accountant Headquarters

As a Senior Financial Accountant you are able to independently take care of the accounting of financial flows. Your duties vary from accurate accounting to supporting the preparation of reports. You do this together with your colleagues, whereas everyone is responsible for different national and/or international entities. 

This is your daily Action

As Senior Financial Accountant you are part of the General Ledger Control Team and you report to the Manager General Ledger. You are responsible for accurate and up-to-date accounting and based on this you analyze the financial processes. In the beginning, your focus will be on the intercompany flows, assessing and checking the transactions. In time, after the SAP Ariba and S4Hana implementation, which you will be part of, the intercompany process will be spread over the financial accountants. This will give you the opportunity to take full responsibility for one or multiple entities.

On a daily basis you are responsible for the entire end2end Intercompany process. You analyze the different recharge between the Action entities (such as recharge of costs, interest and exchange rate differences), prepare and process the journal entry. In addition, you are responsible for drawing up the invoices and supervising the correct processing in SAP, and you are responsible for the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and preparing balance sheet specifications. You always take into account the correctness and completeness of the local rules and legislation (where the focus is also on the VAT flow). In this role you make proposals for improvement to minimize the number of invoices and standardize the process. You prepare PBC lists and check the submission of documents in preparation for the annual audits. You also participate in departmental projects, you support the Financial Control Team and share your knowledge. For our IHQ you process the salary journal, and do the reconciliation of the payroll accounts. You will have direct contact with the local HR department regarding this process (to discuss mismatches).

In your work you have a lot of internal contact with colleagues from the tax department, the financial controllers at the head office and in the countries, this also means visits to the foreign head offices. You maintain external contact with auditors and regulatory authorities.

Our Finance department currently consists of around 90 specialists in various roles. Our Financial Shared Service Centre is responsible for all financial affairs  of our international organisation. Our Treasury team manages all our cash flows and our Fiscal team takes care of anything tax related. Business Controlling supports the business by providing financial advice with respect to our store operations, commercial control, supply chain and financial control. We provide important management information as well as challenge the business with our analyses to further optimize our processes. This is you

A Financial Controller at Action is stress-resistant, flexible, proactive, has analytical skills and can function well within a team. In addition, you have a great sense of responsibility and you keep an overview during busy and hectic periods.

In addition:

  • HBO level and education towards MBA or SPD;
  • A minimum of 3 years of accounting work experience in a finance department at an international company;
  • You have experience with preparing annual accounts
  • Experience with intercompany flows is a must;
  • Experience with accounting systems;
  • Good command of English, and knowledge of other European languages is an advantage.
