Action surprises customers throughout Europe with affordable, high-quality products and a strong focus on sustainability daily. As sourcing manager Action Asia, your role is vital in ensuring a constant supply of our wide product range. You will be based in Hong Kong and travel throughout Asia to build and maintain supplier relationships and find and purchase these very best products. You’ll make it all happen!

Yours is the great challenge to constantly find buying chances, go there, check the production location (or start one), and set everything in motion. Also, you’ll play a vital role in communicating and maintaining relationships with our Asian sourcing partner Li&Fung (with over a hundred dedicated workers for Action), as well as our buying teams and the international headquarters in Zwaagdijk (the Netherlands). Our department in Hong Kong operates as a HUB for the IHQ and acts in the interest of our stakeholders throughout the globe, involved in the direct import of goods from Asia. For each of our product categories, we have a merchandising team in Hong Kong. Your role is vital in connecting all these stakeholders, as well as balancing European demand with Asian supply. At the same time, you will be the go-to-person for our buyers. Also, whenever a buying opportunity occurs and we need someone for, let’s say, a face-to-face negotiation in Shanghai, you are the one who steps on the airplane to go there. You are proactive in seeing and stepping into opportunities.

Last but not least, it’s a great time to live in Hong Kong! This buzzing metropolitan city, which is called ‘Asia’s world city’, is opening up again after 2,5 years of lockdowns and offers every opportunity for a great stay. After an onboarding program of about 6 weeks at the head office in Zwaagdijk (the Netherlands), you will move to your final Hong Kong base in Hong Kong.

This is you


You love to learn, dare to take risks, and recognize good buying opportunities. You’re a self-starter: if it does not cross your path, you’ll go out and find it. Also, you are cost-conscious, commercial and a good communicator: you actively seek to establish and maintain clear communication and good relationships between all (intercultural) stakeholders. No need to say this job is excellent for someone adventurous. 

You also have:

  • A completed bachelor's degree in Economics, Business or similar, or an equivalent level of thinking and work experience. 
  • At least 3 years working experience in sourcing / buying, preferably retail. 
  • Excellent English skills, spoken and written. Besides, a good command of the Dutch language is highly preferred.
