As Manager Supply Chain Expansion, you play a pivotal role in the success of Action as you define the best Supply Chain network for Action. You and your team will then implement this strategy by opening large-scale distribution centers.

Your assignment is to strategically and operationally support Actions current store base by designing, developing and opening distribution centers. This enables Action to continue to open new stores throughout Europe. 

This starts with network analysis, location studies, plot selection, DC design, risk management and strategic planning of expansion in order to define the best SC expansion strategy.

After deciding on the best network, you and your team will be responsible to implement this. The main focus here lies in coordinating all activities in relation to the expansion of new distribution centers (that serve stores), hubs, cross-dock centers (that serve distribution centers) or other new future network elements. You will be. responsible for monitoring, reporting and managing on all projects. This means, making sure all phases of expansion (Search, Build, Equip, Train, Start, Ramp up, and Stabilize) are well on track and all key stakeholders are informed on time. In addition to the above, you are responsible for achieving the expansion objectives within quality, time, and budget targets, and for managing associated risks. 

In the end, you are responsible for ensuring new DC’s are fully operational, in order to provide an optimal network for Supply Chain to be able to achieve its overall strategic objectives.

The Manager SC Expansion is part of the Supply Chain department and reports directly to the Manager Supply Chain Strategy & Innovation. 

Daily Activities

You will be responsible for internal and external stakeholder management by proactively aligning on updates from internal stakeholders linked to the SC Expansion and monitoring the execution of the required activities but also maintaining ongoing relationships with the key external stakeholders on SC Expansion. This means you will negotiate with suppliers, select partners, discuss with the teams that execute but also with the board, etc. As Action aims to continue its rapid expansion, part of your assignment is to continuously improve the project management and execution of expansion.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the DC set-up team, which is a group of 13 dedicated specialists, including 1 manager, that train and coach the teams in opening DCs before, during and after the DC startup. 

Who are you

You have advanced project management skills and are a strong negotiator. You are able to think and act outside of your own discipline or department and you are structured and well organized. You have experience in managing people and you are a self-starter. You understand that Actions (future) success is depending on your results and see this as an opportunity and a challenge.
Furthermore you have:

  • Bachelor degree. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working in a fast growing and/or highly dynamic international supply chain environment and in project management of multi-disciplinary and international environments
