VAT Specialist

Full time, 38 hours a week
Having a presence in eleven countries also means that we have VAT obligations in eleven countries. This presents quite a challenge and brings responsibilities for you as a VAT Specialist at Action. Based in our headquarters in Noord-Holland, you will provide tax advice and carry out compliance checks to ensure that we follow the correct procedures and comply with all VAT obligations. 

Your daily tasks

Together with two VAT Compliance Specialists, you will work in Group Tax and be responsible for the VAT obligations in the eleven European countries in which Action has stores and/or distributions centers. This also applies for the countries to be added over the coming years. 

Your job at a glance:

  • You will assist the VAT Manager with VAT audits and handling questionnaires
  • You will answer VAT-related questions from colleagues across a range of departments
  • You will consult with colleagues from Finance Services and offer advice on how to improve their processes
  • Together with the VAT Manager, you will provide VAT training sessions to colleagues in Finance Services 
  • Working with tax advisers in the various countries, you will stay up to date with and inform the relevant departments within Action of any new and amended VAT regulations
  • You will review new or updated products for all countries to make sure the correct VAT rate is applied
  • Together with the VAT Manager, you will help to optimise the Tax Control Framework
  • You will prepare some VAT returns and ensure they are submitted correct and on time. In addition, you will run and analyse reports from SAP and follow up on findings that emerge when preparing these declarations

Meet your team

Together with eleven other tax specialists, you form Group Tax, the team that deals with direct and indirect taxes and payroll taxes. You will work closely with 2 colleagues who are responsible for VAT compliance. You report to the VAT Manager.

This is you

You are a proactive, flexible team player with strong analytical skills. You can ascertain how an organisation is running, are used to working to deadlines and take an analytical approach to solving problems. You combine these abilities with good communication skills and a huge sense of responsibility.

You also have the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in tax economics or law from a university of applied sciences (HBO)
  • At least three years' relevant tax experience (at a tax consultancy firm, for example)
  • A good knowledge of Excel; experience with SAP would be an asset
  • A good command of English (both written and spoken); one or more other European languages would be an asset
