Since Allocation is in the startup phase, the Allocation team is part of the Supply Chain Project Organization. Once Allocation moved to the business it will be part of the Supply Chain Planning Department.  The Supply Chain Allocator function is a vital role of the Action Supply Chain Planning (SCP) team where the Supply Chain Planner is  responsible for the replenishment of our DC’s  and the Supply Chain Allocator is responsible for the different push flows such as new articles, promotion and seasonal pushes to the stores.

Purpose of the job

Since Allocation (pushing to the stores through the system instead of working with excel) is very new for Action, the Allocation team and the Allocator role are new as well. This means that the whole Allocation process needs to be designed. As an Allocator you will play an important role in developing and improving the way of working across the Action Supply Chain, including the system roll out.
As Allocation is in the middle of the End2End process it is important to understand the commercial input, the impact Allocation has on Supply Planning and Logistics and of course the impact from Allocation on the stores. 
The main purpose of the job once it’s settled, is to create, monitor and guard the different types of allocations (pushes) through the system (Symphony) based on exception management. The objective is to serve the stores in the best way possible and make sure the products are send in the right quanity in time to the stores.

Your daily Actions

As an allocator you will participate in developing the Allocation process taking the End2End way of working into account. You will participate in discussions how to improve the Allocation system and assist in testing solutions and how to set up different parameters in the Allocation system and understand the pro’s and con’s of the different options. Additionally, you will participate in the creation and maintenance of the (Allocation) processes with multi department stakeholders to create a structured way of working with matching KPI's, milestones and communications. You will create pushes for new articles based on the input from the demand planning department as well as articles that have been temporary out of stock and follow up on changes. You will create pushes for articles that will be phased out, either because the season is ending or because the contracts are empty. Furthermore you will create pushes for promotional articles and follow up changes together with different stakeholders within Action. You will create ad hoc pushes for articles that have very high sales during a season and discuss which articles, how much volume and when you are going to push those articles together with the commercial and supply planning colleagues. You will facilitate and follow up periodical meetings with key stakeholders such as Supply Chain, Buying, Commercial Development, Demand Planning and Logistics. Moreover, you will manage based on exceptions and warnings for the allocation of articles and take the most appropriate action on SKU level accordingly. You will coordinate and communicate changes which affect the allocation plan and align with stakeholders such as Buying, Demand planning, Logistics, Capacity and Commercial planning.

Who you are

You have a pro-active mentality and are able to pioneer within the role and come up with proposals about future way of working. You are very organized, able to structure activities and projects, and stick to agreements within deadlines and according to guidelines. You demonstrate a high level of pragmatism and are a team player. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Furthermore you have:

  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Analytics and/or Logistics or other relevant area
  • Track record in similar planning / allocating roles
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a supply chain (planning) function, and preferably in a retail environment
  • Language skills: Business level English
