Manager Internal Audit
Do you want to make a direct contribution to strengthening the control of our business processes by providing simple and cost-conscious solutions for control challenges? Action is looking for a Manager Internal Audit to join our team!
This is your daily action
The Manager Internal Audit leads the Internal Audit team, consisting of 4 Internal Audit professionals. You, together with the Internal Auditors, work on operational audits, follow-up activities or special assignments across all functions and countries of operations. It is your responsibility to ensure a sound control environment by planning, managing and performing different types of audit activities. Your audit activities result in action oriented reporting and structured follow up on agreed action plans.
Next to managing the execution of audit activities, you are responsible for setting the Internal Audit strategy in cooperation with the Director Risk Assurance. This includes the multi-year and annual audit plan for all entities and countries of operation. In setting the Internal Audit strategy, you keep a close eye on Action’s overall business plan to ensure you can maximise your added value at any moment in time.
In addition, you manage the Internal Audit Professional Practice, are keen to continuously improve Internal Audit processes and conduct quality assurance activities considering the key principles of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) for the execution of audit activities.
In this role, stakeholder management is of the essence. You build and maintain relationships with our business teams and act as a sparring partner. You review the Internal Audit sections of the Risk Assurance quarterly reporting, prepared by the Internal Auditors, and discuss the results with the Director Risk Assurance and business management. You also act as primary contact for our external auditors, to align internal and external audit activities to the best extend possible.
You ensure the Internal Audit team is operating optimally by coaching Internal Auditors during the execution of Internal Audit activities and provide direct and constructive feedback, to ensure quality and great performance of the team. You are able to stimulate the team to actively contribute to the development of new ideas and to keep developing themselves.

This is you
As a Manager Internal Audit, you are proactive, result oriented, and execute with pace and urgency. You have excellent communication and leadership skills, showing that you know how to manage your team and other stakeholders. You are an analytical thinker, and can align Action’s strategic goals to operational business processes and financial results in a simplistic manner.
- Academic / Economic grade (master degree), supplemented with a completed post master education for RA, RE or RO
- Experience of at least 15 years in risk and audit, with at least 10 years in Internal Audit
- Solid understanding of corporate governance, risk management, internal control and internal audit standards (van Manen, COSO, COBIT, IPPF))
- Ability to apply audit standards through practical application and relate audit results to financial outcomes
- Knowledge of and experience in Audit Management Systems (BWise preferred);
- Experience in the retail sector is a plus
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing), fluency in French and German preferred.
