What will you be doing as a People Development Specialist? The summary of your role circles around the conception and implementation of training and development programmes for the headquarter and all Action's European countries to ensure the continuous qualification of all our employees. From our headquarters in North Holland you will reinforce our training offerings, looking beyond what is legally required. This position reports into the Group Manager People Development.

With over 2,000 stores in 10 countries, you understand that our employees represent a variety of cultures and come from different backgrounds - a diversity that calls for a precisely tailored approach to internal development programmes. Action Academy is that dedicated space for trainings and courses to the benefit of our employees. This is the backbone for constant development of our teams. You are responsible for the training plans, selection and agreements with suppliers for all our business functions in the HQ and countries.

For example, you are working on the leadership programme in the stores. Alongside the suppliers, you look into the components of the offered programmes; assist on tailoring those according to our internal necessities; identify the pool of employees to follow the training courses as well as the method applied. Once implemented, continue collaboration with the PD coordinator and the stakeholders for the roll out process.

Action HR has grown into a strategic Centre of Excellence in recent years. Within our department, the Recruitment team is recruiting new employees for our international head office. Compensation & Benefits is responsible for everything related to salary, bonuses, leased cars and other employment conditions. People development ensures that all our employees are given opportunities to develop and grow. HR Projects is developing various projects to make our HR department even more valuable within Action. Our Shared Service Center serves our Country Offices, for example with payrolling. Finally, each support department has its own HR advisor who looks at the inflow and outflow of employees and connects departments with our overarching HR team. This is you


As a specialist, you work in a structured, driven, proactive and open manner. You enjoy working independently on a project, while building up relationships at all levels and throughout all areas of the company. You are mature, able to organize and own a process, take weighed decisions and cast a pragmatic and critical eye over necessities, suggestions and request. Your business curiosity triggers you to research and be on top of the newest trends in corporate Learning and Development sphere.
You also have

  • a Bachelor's or Master's degree 
  • at least 3 years' work experience in the field of Learning & Development within a complex HR setting
  • You are fluent in English (both spoken and written)
