Accounts Payable Specialist

Fulltime/parttime 32-38 hours

Do you want to work for Europe's fastest-growing retailer? At Action's international headquarters, we are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist for our Finance Services team.  If you already have experience as a junior financial accountant and would like to further develop your knowledge of accounts payable at an international company, read on as you're exactly who we're looking for!

These are your daily actions

As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for the timely processing of incoming expense invoices and their payment for Action as a whole.
You will process the administration in the SAP system on a daily basis as well as process incoming invoices and respond to questions from suppliers and the Action organisation.
Action is growing rapidly, which has a knock-on effect for our processes. Our processes are changing with the times, however, and that means there is a lot of room to make real contributions to improvements. You may help to ensure that the invoice flow is as efficient as possible, or perhaps lend a hand during the close of our financial periods by explaining open items on balance sheet accounts. Our goal is to pay our suppliers on time, so you will help us strive for the highest possible output.  Working in Action's Finance Services means that no two days are the same. And good ideas are always welcome!

This is your team

As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be part of the Transaction Processing team and Accounts Payable within Finance Services.  Together with the team, you will be responsible for the financial processing of cost invoices within Action.
Finance Services handles the entire administration of our international organisation and employs over 90 different specialists. If you want to work in the dynamic environment of Europe's fastest-growing retailer with plenty of international growth opportunities, it's time to take action!

What you offer

You are a real team player and love working in a dynamic environment. During busy periods, you are able to maintain an overview and keep calm. You see contributing to the further professionalisation of our financial administration as an exciting challenge. You are also meticulous and have an eye for detail.

  • You also have the following:
  • An MBO-4 diploma, preferably in finance or economics
  • Experience working in accounts payable
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and SAP VIM/Ariba is an asset
  • A good command of English

What we offer

Quite a lot, actually! From our bustling headquarters in the Netherlands, you'll have an impact across the whole of Europe. We're now up to more than 2,500 stores in 11 countries and millions of smiles from our customers – and we're not stopping there, because we have big growth ambitions for both Action and you. Our growth means you can always take new steps to develop as a professional, whether that means a different position, an interesting innovation project or new skills. And you can do all that in a culture where we truly live our shared values: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost-consciousness and respect.

You can also count on Action for the following:

  • 24 days' holiday with the option to buy five additional days (based on 38 hours per week)
  • A one-year contract with the prospect of an extension
  • A competitive salary based on a 38-hour week
  • The option to spend up to 40% of your hours working from home (in coordination with your team and manager)
  • 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is reachable from Amsterdam by car in just 30 minutes on uncongested roads)

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you join us. For example, we are working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor more than 2,000 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children’s Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 124 nationalities? That we already source 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton sustainably? And that only energy-efficient LED lighting is used in more than half of our stores? Yes, that is also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we’re facilitating? Join our team and find out for yourself.
