Connectivity Engineer

(Full-time/Part-time, 32-38 hours a week)

As an Application Analyst Connectivity at Action, you will be responsible for our network and telephony solutions operating across our 2,500 stores, distribution centres, country offices and international headquarters. You will ensure that Action can continue to grow behind the scenes. Are you up for the challenge of taking on this crucial role?

Your daily tasks

As an Application Analyst Connectivity, you will be responsible for co-designing, implementing and maintaining high-quality connectivity solutions for the Action organisation as a whole. Within the Development & Operations team, you will manage our IT partners from an operational perspective when it comes to our network and telephony services. This means that you will check and approve changes for new or existing projects, pay close attention to cost control and usage data for our services, and more.

In the short term, we have enough projects in the pipeline, as we are currently investigating a new telephony solution for our distribution centres, we want to further improve our communication solution in the stores, and we are continuously optimising our international call centres.
In the area of networks, the initial foundation of our network architecture has been laid, and we want to implement improvements that contribute to powerful security and even higher availability.
All in all, you will be a fantastic asset to Action in terms of professional knowledge. After all, you will make sure that Action can run smoother.

Your team

Within the Technology department, around 100 colleagues at our international headquarters take a pragmatic, solution-oriented and fast approach to a range of IT solutions. You will be part of the Office Automation team, which consists of seven internal colleagues and several external partners with whom we work closely to keep the environment stable, scalable and secure and make sure we continue to develop it. After all, standardisation is the best way to support Action's growth in all countries.
It is the fact that we can grow the Action organisation in a creative and forward-thinking manner that drives us.
Where possible, we make increasing use of agile and scrum methods. We are smart followers, embracing proven innovative technologies if they can help us to achieve our goals.

Curious about your new colleagues? Marko and Kees will be happy to work with you!

What you offer

You have the necessary technical insights, but can also take a deep dive into the administration when needed. You are curious and like to take a pragmatic approach to problems. You want to grow even further and are always willing to learn.

You also have the following:

  • A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • Experience in a similar role with telephony and/or networks
  • An excellent command of English (both spoken and written)
  • Previous experience working in a management organisation would be an asset

What we offer

Quite a lot, actually! From our bustling headquarters in the Netherlands, you will have an impact across the whole of Europe. We're now up to more than 2,500 stores in 11 countries and millions of smiles from our customers – and we're not stopping there, because we have major growth ambitions, both for Action and you. Our growth means you can always take new steps to develop as a professional, whether that means a different position, an interesting innovation project or new skills. And you can do all that in a culture where we truly embrace our shared values: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost-consciousness and respect.

You can also count on Action for the following:

  • A competitive salary based on a 38-hour week
  • An annual bonus of between 7.5% and 15% based on achieving company and personal targets
  • 24 days' holiday with the option to buy five additional days (based on 38 hours per week)
  • A temporary contract with the intention of offering you a permanent contract in the long term
  • Flexible working hours and the option to spend 40% of your hours working from home (in coordination with your team and manager)
  • A 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is reachable from Amsterdam by car in just 30 minutes on uncongested roads)

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a new world will open up for you when you join us. As an example, we're working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know we sponsor more than 2,000 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children's Village? Or that our team reflects the diversity of our customers, representing 124 nationalities? Or that 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton already come from sustainable sources? Or that we only use energy-efficient LED lighting in more than half of our stores? Yes, that's Action, too. If you're curious about what other initiatives we're taking, join our team and see for yourself.
