Financial Accountant

Do you want to work for Europe's fastest-growing retailer and are you looking for challenges paired with a lot of responsibility? We are looking for an experienced financial specialist to join our Cash & Bank Accounting team, where you will be responsible for all cash flows and payments within Action. If you also enjoy working in a friendly team with fantastic colleagues, read on, because we’re looking for you!

Your daily tasks

You will oversee everything from the payment process in shops and cash received at the bank to making payments. This is all part of your responsibilities as a Cash & Bank Accounting Specialist. Of course, you won't be alone in your role. You will work with your teammates in the Cash & Bank Accounting team for all Action stores and entities across Europe.

You will carry out daily checks on the incoming cash flow and be in contact with the Accounts Payable (AP), HR Payments, Treasury and Store Operations departments, among others. You will also handle payments from other departments, the correct and complete posting of bank transfers and the Accounts Receivable (AR) process. You will also analyse cash differences and take action in the event of discrepancies in cooperation with the Fraud and Store Security department. Coordinating cash transports is a particular focus area, and you will arrange the starting funds for new stores and deliver sufficient change in good time.

Due to Action's international scope and growth, it is important to establish and optimise processes, including in your role. This means there is plenty of room for ideas and personal development.

Your team

You will be part of the Cash & Bank Accounting team, which consists of six employees and the Team Lead. Your team is part of the Accounting & Reporting department within Financial Services, where more than 100 specialists work in a range of roles. Financial Services takes care of the full administration of our international organisation up to and including the delivery of the annual accounts. If you want to work in the dynamic environment of Europe's fastest-growing retailer with plenty of international growth opportunities, it's time to take action!

What you offer

You are a real team player and love working in a dynamic environment. During busy periods, you are able to maintain an overview and keep calm. You see contributing to the further professionalisation of our financial administration as an exciting challenge. You are also meticulous, have an eye for detail and a great sense of responsibility. Finance is your passion, and you have a deep interest in efficiency and manageable processes. You are thorough and cast a critical eye over your own work and processes within the department.

You also have the following:

  • A higher professional degree (HBO) in a financial field
  • At least five years' relevant work experience in the financial and administrative field
  • A good command of English
  • Knowledge of Excel is a must
  • Experience with financial software is a requirement, and experience with SAP is an asset

What we offer

Surprisingly more! From our bustling home base in the Netherlands, you’ll have an impact on the whole of Europe. The counter now stands at more than 2,300 stores in 11 countries and millions of smiles from our customers. And we have big growth ambitions. For Action and for you. Because our growth means that you can always take new steps. A different job, an interesting innovation project, new skills: as a professional you can develop without limits. And all this in a culture where our shared values are truly lived: Customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost conscious and respect. Did you know that you can also count on us for:

  • A competitive salary based on a 38-hour week
  • 24 days' holiday with the option to buy five additional days (based on 38 hours per week)
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of working largely from home
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is reachable from Amsterdam by car in just 30 minutes on uncongested roads)
  • 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action.

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you join us. For example, we are working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor more than 2,000 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children’s Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 124 nationalities? That we already source 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton sustainably? And that only energy-efficient LED lighting is used in more than half of our stores? Yes, that is also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we’re facilitating? Join our team and find out for yourself.
