Internal Auditor
(Full-time – 38 hours per week)
Do you want to look beyond the numbers and discover how one of Europe’s fastest-growing retailers really operates? Are you an auditor who enjoys understanding a wide range of processes, asking critical questions and making a tangible impact through your findings? At Action, we are looking for an Internal Auditor to help our international organisation manage risks and further improve its processes.
From our international headquarters to our stores and distribution centres, as an Internal Auditor you will gain a broad view of the organisation and work on a variety of audits across our international operations.
These are your daily tasks
As an Internal Auditor, you plan and perform Internal Audit activities across different areas of Action. You examine processes, risks and controls, and discuss your findings and recommendations with the business.
No two audits are the same. You will work from our international headquarters, while also visiting stores, distribution centres and other parts of the organisation. This allows you to get to know Action from the inside and see how processes actually work in practice.
You will:
- Plan and perform Internal Audit activities across different business areas.
- Conduct operational and other internal audits at locations including our headquarters, stores and distribution centres.
- Analyse processes, risks and internal controls, and perform control testing.
- Discuss audit findings and recommendations with management and advise on potential improvements.
- Prepare audit reports and supporting documentation.
- Monitor the implementation of agreed improvement actions and perform follow-up activities.
- Contribute to the annual Internal Control evaluation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders at our headquarters and across our international country organisations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our Internal Audit processes, methodologies and ways of working in line with the IIA Standards.
- Depending on your experience, you will take on greater responsibility for independently performing more complex audits, reviewing audit work and coaching less experienced auditors.
Your team
You will join the Internal Audit team within Risk Assurance and report to the Manager Internal Audit.
The team consists of four all-round auditors. This means you will not spend years focusing on the same process, but will work with different parts of Action. One audit may take you to a process at headquarters, while another may take you to a store, distribution centre or one of our international country organisations.
As a result, your stakeholders can be found across almost the entire organisation. You will work with different management levels and colleagues within the wider Risk Assurance organisation.
Within the team, we value a down-to-earth and direct way of working together. We speak openly, support one another and believe it is important that you are a visible member of the team. At the same time, you will have considerable responsibility and independence in your own audits.
This is you
You are analytical and critical, while also being practical and approachable. You are interested in understanding how processes really work and do not automatically settle for the first answer. You can assess risks and controls independently while building strong relationships with the business.
You also bring:
- A university degree or master’s degree in economics, supplemented by a completed or nearly completed post-master’s qualification as an RA, RE or RO, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years of relevant audit experience.
- Knowledge of risk management, internal control and auditing standards.
- The ability to apply auditing standards in practice and translate findings into clear risks and improvements.
- A hands-on mentality and a pragmatic approach to work.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to have critical conversations with stakeholders.
- A structured way of working, enabling you to maintain an overview of different activities and deadlines.
- Good command of Dutch and English.
- Willingness to work regularly from our headquarters and to visit our stores, distribution centres and other locations for audits.
- Experience in Internal Audit, retail, an international organisation, SAP or Audit Management Systems is an advantage.
- Do you already have 6 to 10 years of audit experience, including experience in Internal Audit? If so, this position may be filled at a more senior level. In that case, we expect you to be able to independently perform more complex audits, review audit work and coach less experienced auditors.
What we offer
Surprisingly more! From our international headquarters in the Netherlands, you will have the opportunity to look behind the scenes of a fast-growing international retailer. You will continue to develop as an audit professional while broadening your knowledge of operations, risk, controls and international business processes.
