Action is a rapidly growing non food discounter with more than 3,300 stores in 14 countries, including Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic and Italy. With 18 distribution centres across several countries, Action Technology plays an important role in the continuous expansion of our distribution network. To continue growing and improving, we constantly launch programs and smaller projects—for example, opening additional distribution centres, lifecycle projects (upgrading hardware/software), and implementing new logistics tools to support our rapidly expanding flow of goods.

This is your daily action


As an IT Program Manager, you are responsible for guiding Technology in delivering new technological capabilities for Supply Chain. You work for Technology and collaborate daily with Supply Chain and Technology partners to set up, manage and successfully deliver your programs, according to best practices in the Action Project Management framework. Within programs, you report functionally to steering committees.

 

Due to the dynamic nature of Action, it is crucial that you work fact based and transparently, proactively manage risks and seize opportunities, ensuring that agreed upon objectives remain on track. You are part of the IT Projects & Portfolio team and report to the Manager Project Management Technology.

Our IT department works closely with business domains in various functional teams such as Digital, Store Operations, Finance, HR and Supply Chain. In these “streams”, business and IT work together on innovation, change projects, and managing the performance of daily operations. In addition, IT has a DevOps team responsible for integration, development, infrastructure and office automation.

This is you


As an IT Program Manager, you are analytically strong, creative, and possess senior project management skills. You have a service oriented, proactive and no nonsense mindset and are able to communicate and collaborate effectively at various (international) levels within the organisation. You have a clear vision and know how to execute it. A positive and proactive attitude towards change and innovation is essential. Our formula with a surprisingly broad assortment and sharp prices requires an entrepreneurial, critical and pragmatic attitude with strong cost awareness.

 

And furthermore:

 

  • At least 8–10 years of experience as a Program Manager with a proven track record
  • Comfortable with both traditional (Prince2) and agile (Scrum) methodologies
  • Experience working closely with the business within Supply Chain is required
  • Knowledge of primary Supply Chain processes is required
  • Experience working in a Retail organisation is required
  • You work efficiently and effectively, even under time pressure and in a sometimes immature project environment
  • Self starter, team player, strong motivator and communicator
  • Functional system knowledge of SAP is a significant plus
  • You are a sparring partner for business and technology stakeholders (both internal and external) and provide project management advice
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English (spoken and written)
