You are the key player in our assortment. Together with the buyer for one of our 14 categories, you form a close-knit team. They ensure the right product; you make sure the planning and stock are in place for all Action stores across Europe. The choices you make today will be visible to our customers in stores tomorrow.
These are your daily actions
As Merchandise Planner at Action, you are responsible for delivering an optimal store assortment- and demand planning for your category. You provide insights into trends, market developments, and changes in demand to equip buyers with the right information. You identify product trends, commercial activities, and assortment adjustments. You also detect potential issues in time. Together, you form a strong team and complement each other.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Create and manage an assortment plan for more than 3,000 stores in 14 countries. Each year, we grow by 300 stores, plenty of challenges ahead.
- Prepare demand forecasts for new assortments, considering factors such as seasonality, trends, and timing.
- Translate commercial requirements into the quantities we purchase, forming the basis for Supply Chain Planning. Together, you identify potential delivery issues that naturally impact assortment planning.
- Connect overall sales and financial objectives and risk areas with category-level plans.
- Forecast expected sales figures for planned promotions and assess the impact of other commercial activities and trends on the existing assortment.

You report directly to the Team Lead Commercial Planning. Together with a team of 14 colleagues, you work daily on shelf layouts and continuously improve and mature processes and planning tools. The team is enthusiastic, energetic, and always looking for improvements. You also work closely with buyers and supply planners—they are practically part of your team.

You would describe yourself as enthusiastic and always looking for improvement. You are not afraid to speak up and are naturally curious. You have strong analytical skills and believe that data doesn’t lie. Thanks to your social and communication skills, working with you is a pleasure. Colleagues know what to expect from you, and you expect the same in return.
Additionally:
- You have proven experience in purchasing, commercial, or merchandise planning.
- You can perform analyses, manage forecasts, and identify trends.
- You have experience with planning tools and Excel.
- You have excellent communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus.
- You are creative and not afraid to take initiative. You enjoy coming up with new ideas and improvement proposals.
