Product Tax Specialist

(Full-time/part-time 32-38 hours per week)

Are you looking for a position in indirect tax where no two weeks are the same? As a Product Tax Specialist in indirect taxes, you will be part of the team that files returns correctly and on time in all countries where Action operates. What is more, product taxes like plastic tax, sugar tax and other eco-contributions are growing fast in Europe, so this is certainly a dynamic and exciting position in a friendly team with which you will never be bored!

Your daily tasks

We have more than 3,000 stores in 14 European countries, which means that we also pay taxes across Europe. You will be part of the team that ensures that we file our product taxes on a regular basis and in the correct manner in the countries.

The variety of countries gives you the opportunity to learn and experience multiple tax cultures. Each country has its own dynamics. The product tax regulations are evolving, partly because European member states have to meet targets on sustainability and health. You will stay up to date, so you know when rates change or when new product taxes are coming.

Additionally, in this position you will have a lot of contact with our buyers and our sustainability team, as well as with external tax advisors and local authorities in various countries.

Your team

With 13 real tax specialists, you will form the close-knit Group Tax, the team that deals with direct and indirect taxes and payroll taxes. You will work closely with three colleagues, who are responsible for product tax compliance. Working in this group, you will report to the Product Tax Manager.

This is you

Collaboration is what you're all about and, in addition, you are energised by a dynamic job. It is important that you have good communication skills, as you will interact a lot with the business, tax advisors and various foreign authorities.

You also have the following:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in the economics of taxation, tax law, accounting, economics or business administration
  • Ability to deal well with deadlines
  • You have pragmatic and analytical thinking and working skills
  • You have at least two years of relevant work experience
  • A good knowledge of Excel
  • You have a good command of Dutch or English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in one or more additional languages, such as German, French, Spanish, Italian, or Polish, is considered an asset but not a requirement.

What we offer

Because our growth means that you can always take new steps. A different job, an interesting innovation project, new skills: as a professional you can develop without limits. And all this in a culture where our shared values are truly lived: Customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost conscious and respect.

Did you know that you can also count on us for:

  • A market-based salary
  • 24 days of holiday and the option to buy 5 extra days (based on 38 hours per week)
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of working up to 40% from home, of course in coordination with your team and manager
  • 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel expenses allowance. Zwaagdijk-Oost is traffic jam-free and only 30 minutes by car from Amsterdam.

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you join us. For example, we are working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor more than 2,000 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children’s Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 124 nationalities? That we already source 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton sustainably? And that only energy-efficient LED lighting is used in more than half of our stores? Yes, that is also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we’re facilitating? Join our team and find out for yourself.
