Social Advertising Specialist

Fulltime / parttime, 32 – 38 hours per week

Are you ready to help steer one of the fastest-growing European retail brands through the ever-evolving world of paid social? As our new Social Advertising Specialist, you’ll take charge of large-scale, multi-market campaigns and translate strategy into results. With your deep understanding of performance marketing, retail dynamics, and platform automation.

This is your daily action

As an experienced paid social specialist, you’ll operate at the intersection of data, media, and creative. You’ll set up and optimise campaigns across multiple countries, manage substantial budgets, and push performance through platforms like Meta and TikTok. Tools like Smartly (a must in this role) and Channable are second nature to you. Your day-to-day includes everything from campaign structure to audience strategy and creative testing.
You’ll work closely with CRM, E-commerce, and Brand teams, always keeping one eye on performance and the other on long-term customer value.

Some examples of your tasks:

  • Translate campaign goals into media strategies and set up performance-driven paid social campaigns across multiple channels
  • Build, automate, and optimise campaigns in Smartly, ensuring best-in-class execution and scalability
  • Use Channable to manage feeds and product catalogues for dynamic campaigns and DPA across regions
  • Manage and analyse large budgets (€100k+ per campaign) while improving ROAS, reach, and engagement
  • Develop structured testing plans (audiences, placements, creative) and share learnings across the organisation
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external media/creative partners to ensure timely, high-quality campaign delivery
  • Provide reporting and clear insights to guide decisions, drive growth, and shape long-term strategy
  • You’ll be part of an ambitious, forward-thinking digital team that’s working at scale - but with a startup mentality. We work with a testing & learning mindset. With millions of customers, a growing online presence, and plenty of room for experimentation, this role puts you in the driver’s seat.

Your team

With tens of millions of fans across Europe, we keep surprising them week after week. We are constantly expanding the Action brand using a data-driven approach and by working in agile teams. In Marketing and Digital, we are responsible for the marketing and communication strategy and its execution. We are building more and more digital visibility and interaction – from customer surveys to designing our award-winning leaflet in our own Action Studio, and from private labelling to webcare, the app and social media campaigns. Our biggest challenge is using one voice and one format, online and in more than 3,000 stores in 13 different countries. Learning new things every day and working with the nicest colleagues to make our popular brand even more successful is what makes us happy. Does this apply to you, too?

This is you

You’re analytical, structured, and obsessed with getting results - but you also know that great paid campaigns are part art, part science. You’re no stranger to performance pressure, media pacing, or stakeholder alignment. And you've been in the game long enough to know what works across channels and countries.

In addition:

  • At least 4 years of hands-on paid social experience, preferably at an agency or fast-paced retail environment
  • Extensive experience working in Smartly.io
  • Strong experience with Channable or similar feed management tools
  • Proven track record managing large campaigns with retail brands or clients across multiple countries
  • Experience with campaign planning, budget pacing, and cross-channel synergy
  • Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills and the ability to turn results into stories
  • Strong grasp of paid social KPIs, media buying principles, and campaign measurement
  • Preferably experience with creative briefing, A/B testing frameworks, and working with media partners
  • If you live and breathe paid social and want to scale your impact across Europe, this is your stage.

What we offer

Surprisingly much! From our international headquarters in the Netherlands you have an impact on what happens in our stores across Europe. We welcome more than 15 million customers every week in more than 3,000 stores in 13 European countries. We have great growth ambitions. For Action and for you. Because our growth means that you can always take new steps. A different position, an interesting innovation project, new skills: you can continue to develop as a professional. And all this in a culture where our shared values are truly lived: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost conscious and respect.

Did you know that you can also count on us for:

  • A market-based salary based on a 38-hour work week
  • 24 days of holiday and the option to buy 5 extra days (based on 38 hours per week)
  • A fixed contract with the intention of offering you a permanent contract in the long term
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of working up to 40% from home, of course in coordination with your team and manager
  • 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel expenses allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is traffic jam-free and only 30 minutes by car from Amsterdam)

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you come and work with us. We work hard to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor more than 2,500 children worldwide who grow up in an SOS Children's Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 155 different nationalities? That we purchase 94% of our wood products and 100% of our cotton sustainably? And that almost all our stores only use energy-efficient LED lighting? Yes, that is also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we’re facilitating? Join our team and find out for yourself.
