Sourcing Specialist – Direct Import

Are you energized by developing supplier networks, exploring new sourcing opportunities and contributing to a scalable, efficient and low‑cost Direct Import model? As a Sourcing Specialist – Direct Import at Action Hong Kong, you play a key role in strengthening our Asian sourcing landscape. You support Buying teams in Europe, collaborate closely with our third‑party sourcing partner and suppliers across Asia, and help shape a competitive and future‑proof Direct Import assortment.

Based in Hong Kong SAR, you will work at the center of Action’s growing international sourcing operations.

What will you do?

• Identify new Direct Import sourcing opportunities across hardgoods, softlines, formulated goods and Food.
• Visit suppliers and factories to assess capabilities, manufacturing processes and scalability.
• Support price negotiations, product selection and specification discussions together with Buying teams and the sourcing partner.
• Assist in preparing buying trips, including quotations, sample management, tagging, meeting arrangements and logistics.
• Visit trade fairs to source new suppliers and maintain existing relationships.
• Monitor product and production trends, sustainability developments and competitor activity, translating insights into recommendations for Buying teams.
• Act as an escalation point for commercial issues, ensuring alignment, structured follow‑up and effective resolution.

This is what your day could look like

You start your morning by reviewing supplier performance updates from the sourcing partner, noticing a cost deviation on a key product range. You align with the partner to understand the root cause, then prepare a recommendation for the European Buying team.

Later, you visit a factory to assess scalability for a new private label category, followed by preparing quotations and samples for an upcoming buying trip. In the afternoon, you coordinate with the Action Hong Kong team and suppliers to resolve a production delay. You finish your day by researching a new material trend that could unlock opportunities in multiple categories.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in sourcing, buying or factory facing roles.
• Hands-on experience with factory visits and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Experience within an international retail or sourcing environment.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Strong communication skills with sourcing partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Culturally sensitive and able to adapt communication style.
• Pragmatic, detail oriented and solution focused.
• Commercial mindset with strong cost awareness.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Asia.

Meet your team

Action Hong Kong acts as the regional sourcing hub for our International Headquarters in the Netherlands. You will work closely with colleagues through Buying, Quality, Compliance, Sustainability, Marketing, Direct Import Planning and Direct Import Inbound.

You also collaborate intensively with our third‑party sourcing partner and suppliers across Asia, helping strengthen and optimise Action’s Direct Import Sourcing network. You report directly to the Manager Action Hong Kong.
