Meet Alicio

"Cultural diversity in the workplace creates valuable partnerships."

Alicio Brundu, Warehouse Employee

About Alicio

Alicio has enjoyed working in the warehouse for eight-and-a-half years and values the diversity within his team. In addition to learning a lot from other cultures, he is part of a young, close-knit team that always tries to get the best out of each other.

Can you tell us about your position?

"I started out as an order picker, but I've since taken on a lot more tasks. I've received training in different areas, which means I can be deployed in several departments around the warehouse. One day I could be filling containers and making sure they go to the right place in the store, and the next I could be training someone on the shop floor."

Do you have fixed working hours?

"There are two shifts: an early shift and a late shift. The early shift runs from 6 am to 3 pm, while the late shift goes from 3 pm to midnight. That said, the late shift can overrun to 1 am or 2 am sometimes. The Logistics department is very flexible, but they also expect employees to be flexible, too. Luckily, you also get a lot of flexibility in return: they don't mind if you want to change shifts every so often."

"If you do your best and are open to trying new things, Action offers plenty of opportunities to learn and keep growing."

What's the atmosphere like within the team?

"There is a nice, casual atmosphere. We work with a very large team in the warehouse, with 180 colleagues in the Order Picking department alone. You work with the same colleagues week in, week out, so you know each other very well and what your responsibilities are. We speak a lot of English, as we come from a whole host of different countries. I meet with colleagues outside work on a regular basis, and we often organise team outings."

What makes your work so enjoyable?

"I enjoy all parts of my job and have lots of fun. It's great that my tasks are so varied and that I work alongside a very diverse team. I find it highly motivating that Action pays a lot of attention to training courses and bonuses. As an example, you can take courses on working with hazardous substances or obtain a forklift and reach truck certificate. There's also a productivity bonus!"

Why is Action such a great employer?

"The company is very thoughtful, both in terms of your work and private life. You aren't made to feel like a number. There is a personal approach here. If something happens in your private life, you get flowers; I even received a cuddly toy with a card when my son was born! Action's also a great employer when it comes to your professional growth, too. If you do your best and are open to trying new things, Action offers you plenty of opportunities to learn and keep growing."
