Product Quality Technologist
(Full Time, 38 Hours / week)
The Technical/Quality department is responsible for product quality, performance, product specification, Action Social Responsibility and sustainable sourcing ensuring that product performs to Actions standards and its country of operations legal legislation.
The Product Technologist is responsible for developing, influencing and delivering quality, compliance, sustainability and ethical standards & processes for product category in question.
Working closely with buying, suppliers and other relevant stakeholders to ensure Action delivers the right Quality/Price balance.
We are looking for colleagues in several areas, but not limited to DIY, Toys, Washing & Cleaning, Electronics, accessories items, Furniture, Outdoor, Chemical FMCG products (not food) and other product categories for general merchandise
This is your daily action
- Deliver clear Product Specification Sheets (PSS) depending on the product group, to include product performance, material standards, fit-for-purpose standards, labelling guidelines, safety warnings, construction and components in adherence with the quality standards.
- Assure ongoing compliance with safety, ethical, quality and regulatory requirements, legislation and policy, by working closely with buying, suppliers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Create and review weekly quality KPI’s, Customer Feedback, Damaged Goods, Authority Cases, Action Quality Control Data, creating CAP’s by working closely with buying and suppliers.
- Ensure that all article relevant product technical documentation (legal, testing, safety) is available and conforms with the Product Specification Sheets (PSS) and EU- and Country specific legislation.
- Benchmark Action products against competitors ensuring Action product is fit for purpose and the correct quality level is achieved.
- Working with other business stakeholder when necessary to conduct recalls (withdraw from store or public safety recall) of articles and create CAP’s, new minimum standards and the updating of the Product Specification Sheets (PSS).
- Management of category supply base to guide, influence and ensure quality and compliance to deliver safe and legal product.

This is you
- Academic degree for relevant category
- Has experience in retail/manufacturing Quality/Technology role in the specific industry of specialism (e.g. toys, electronics).
- Fluent in English is essential. Dutch, French, German, Polish, Spanish, Italian would be advantageous.
- Expert in the field of safety & legislation, risk analysis and prevention and product technical development within specialized industry (toys / electronics / cosmetics and formulation / food contact etc.).
- Commitment and history of putting the customer first and central to everything they do
- Multi tasked orientated working to tight deadlines where necessary while maintaining entrepreneurialism
- Able to analyse data (KPI’s, customer feedback, sales) to shape future strategy
- Ability to work across multiple sourcing models (import, private label, direct).
- Able to manage forward thinking for newness and project delivery
