Senior Legal Counsel Technology
(Fulltime, 38 hours per week)
Did you know that Action is one of the fastest-growing non-food retailers in Europe? As a Legal Counsel at our international headquarters in Zwaagdijk (North Holland, just 30 minutes from Amsterdam), you will play a key role in supporting a wide range of technology projects and contracts in close collaboration with the Procurement and Technology departments.
You are the legal expert who provides strategic guidance for the contracting of all kinds of technology-related services and products. Together with Procurement and Technology, you ensure that the business always has the systems and technologies needed to support our growth and enable the most efficient operations possible.
Additionally, where possible, you will have the opportunity to assist Procurement with projects outside the Technology domain, focusing on contracting other types of “not-for-resale” services and products for the Action group (such as marketing, media buying, and store operations).
In short, this is a highly challenging, diverse, and impactful role in a dynamic environment!
This is your daily action
Variety, challenge, and responsibility – that’s what this role offers you. As a Legal Counsel Technology, your primary focus is on providing legal support for the Technology domain. You advise on a wide range of topics related to technology contracts and projects, lead negotiations, draft, and review contracts. While your work primarily involves Dutch law, Action’s growth means that nearly all agreements and projects also have an international dimension.
From a business-critical SaaS solution to a complex technology infrastructure agreement, you are the legal cornerstone of Action’s technology projects. You also assess when to be deeply involved—for instance, with contracts and projects critical to our operations—and when a more advisory role suffices.
In addition, you proactively seek ways to ensure and improve the legal quality and efficiency of various procurement processes and agreements, equip the Procurement team with the necessary legal knowledge (e.g., through training), and enhance legal scalability (e.g., by developing contract templates). This allows you to focus on the most critical activities and developments.
You will also ensure the proper implementation and application of new laws and regulations, and occasionally handle disputes that require your support.

This is you
An enthusiastic, pragmatic, and decisive legal professional with a strong personality and a keen eye for business interests. You are hands-on, communicative, and skilled at quickly building relationships. Additionally, you excel at handling diverse and sometimes unexpected issues, thriving on the variety and unpredictability that energize you.
In addition you have:
- A completed university (WO/Master's) degree in Dutch Law
- At least 6 years of relevant work experience with a variety of technology-related agreements and projects, preferably also with other types of commercial agreements
- Preferably, experience in a dynamic commercial environment
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in Dutch and English
How we contribute to society
If you only know Action from the stores, a new world will open up for you when you join us. As an example, we're working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you also know that we sponsor more than 2,000 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children's Village? Or that our team reflects the diversity of our customers, representing 124 nationalities? Or that 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton already comes from sustainable sources? Or that we only use energy-efficient LED lighting in more than half of our stores? Yes, that's Action, too. If you're curious about what other initiatives we're taking, join our team and see for yourself.
