Supply Planner
32-38 hours per week
Are you the Supply Planner we're looking for? Do you want to be part of a successful, growing organisation? And do you want a role with growth and development opportunities? Become a Supply Planner at Action and grow together with us!
More than 17 million customers visit one of our more than 2,900 stores in Europe every week, and we open new stores on a weekly basis, too. This represents a growing logistics challenge, one in which we work together on an international level with suppliers to get products in our stores at the lowest prices. As a result, we are looking to expand our Supply Planners team and will make sure challenges and development opportunities are available to you as a Supply Planner at our international headquarters in Noord-Holland. Come and see for yourself!
Your daily actions
You will work as a Supply Planner at the heart of our logistics operations, ensuring optimal availability of your product group in our 16 distribution centres across Europe. If there are any delivery problems, you will tackle them head on with local and international suppliers. Supply planning is also about working together with commercial planners who define the product range, buyers who select suppliers and products, and logistics experts who control all systems and processes from start to finish.
As a Supply Planner, you will do the following:
- You will be responsible for product availability in one of the 14 product categories, such as household, food and drink, toys or garden.
- You will be responsible for stock levels in all European distribution centres, and will take action based on product forecasts, planned deliveries and stock levels in distribution centres and at suppliers. This approach will allow you to take advantage of crucial selling periods for your products. Should you see different demand patterns, you will take action and ensure that the sales potential in the stores is used to the full.
- You will act as the first point of escalation and knowledge holder on the logistics processes for suppliers and internal stakeholders, such as commercial planning and procurement.
- You will check and place orders in the forecast and replenishment system Symphony GOLD. While experience is not essential, you must become an expert through training on the tool.
- You will monitor your suppliers' scheduled deliveries for timeliness and completeness.
- You will take part in regular meetings with suppliers to improve internal stock levels and product availability.
- The number of contacts with other supply planners and suppliers make your work challenging and diverse. And the best thing about it is that together with your colleagues, you put a smile on our customers' faces in our stores by surprising them with more than they expect and by making sustainable products affordable and accessible to all.
Your team
The Supply Planning team consists of 35 supply planners who focus on a constant flow of deliveries from all our European suppliers and manufacturers to the Action distribution centres. Furthermore, they often work together with our sales colleagues to be able to present the selected products in the stores at the right time. So, if you're looking for something new, there are plenty of opportunities in the team to take on new responsibilities or grow. Your future colleagues would love to meet you!
What you offer
You are interested in or already have experience in the field of logistics and supply chain. Planning and organising are your strengths. If you see that things could be done more easily or more effectively, you will be itching to get started. You find it easy to switch between tasks; you can be taking a phone call from a supplier one moment and be giving a presentation to the sales team on product availability the next. Others describe you as organised, flexible and someone who can go the extra mile. Thanks to a structured approach, you know how to deal with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines. You represent the Supply Planning team well by maintaining short lines of communication with your stakeholders.
You also have the following:
- A bachelor's degree from a university of applied sciences, preferably in logistics, supply chain management or business administration
- At least one year's work experience in a similar role
- An affinity for numbers and data
- An excellent command of English
- A good knowledge of Excel
- Knowledge of SAP or forecasting and replenishment systems is an asset
What we offer
Quite a lot, actually! From our bustling headquarters in the Netherlands, you'll have an impact across the whole of Europe. We're now up to more than 2,900 stores in 12 countries and millions of smiles from our customers – and we're not stopping there, because we have big growth ambitions both for Action and you. Our growth means you can always take new steps to develop as a professional, whether that means a different position, an interesting innovation project or new skills. And you can do all that in a culture where we truly embrace our shared values: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost-consciousness and respect.
You can also count on Action for the following:

- Flexible working hours and the option to spend 40% of your hours working from home (in coordination with your team and manager)
- 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
- A good pension scheme, group health insurance and travel allowance (it only takes 30 minutes to travel from Amsterdam to Zwaagdijk-Oost by car when the roads are clear)
How we contribute to society
If you only know Action from our stores, a new world will open up for you when you join us. As an example, we're working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know that we sponsor more than 2,000 children who are growing up in SOS Children's Villages across the world? Or that our team reflects the diversity of our customers, representing 124 nationalities? Or that we already procure 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton from sustainable sources? Or that we only use energy-efficient LED lighting in more than half of our stores? Yes, that's Action, too. If you're curious about any of our other initiatives, join our team and see for yourself.
