Meet Aimane
“Every day, we strive to provide the best service to our distribution centres.”
Aimane Ftieh, Logistics Operations ManagerHi! Please introduce yourself!
My name is Aimane, I’m 32 years old and I live in Made, Brabant. I’ve almost always worked in logistics; I started working at Action in 2015.
What is it you do as a Logistics Operations Manager?
I am responsible for the international flow of goods between our suppliers and distribution centres. Action has three import hubs in France and Poland where containers are unloaded. The goods then go to our distribution centres. Tilburg is home to our cross-dock location. Here, more than three hundred suppliers from all directions deliver their pallets. I coordinate the operation with logistics service providers, optimise processes and monitor key indicators. Are goods delivered on time and do the shipments meet our logistical quality? And do that within a huge international network.
Why did you join Action?
First and foremost because of its great concept. I used to buy a diary from the bookshop and tape from the hardware store until I discovered Action. Here I could get everything at once! At that time, I also lived close to one of our distribution centres. From the people who worked there, I heard good stories about the advancement opportunities and working atmosphere.
What surprised you most about working at Action?
How fast I could grow! I started as an order picker at the distribution centre: a job that didn't really match with my studies in International Business and Management Studies. But the labour market was tight at that time, so I wanted to take a step back and make two steps forward later. In recent years, I trained new order pickers, was foreman for the incoming goods and trained colleagues in starting up new distribution centres abroad. I have had my current job since early 2022.
"Every day, we strive to provide the best service to our distribution centres."
What's the best part of your job? And what can be challenging?
I enjoy constantly switching between internal and external contacts. Every day, we strive to provide the best service to our distribution centres. That’s satisfying! And there are loads of challenges involved, from a strike in France to dealing with fluctuating volumes.
What achievements are you proud of?
That I started working at Action as an order picker, even though that was not the most logical step after my studies. That choice actually put me on the path to where I want to be!
What's the atmosphere like?
I would say: take a tour of our headquarters. You immediately notice the vibrant energy. Everyone is busy with all sorts of things and is driven to achieve results. It's contagious!
Any tips for future colleagues?
You really have to love change. Are you a habitual and like peace and quiet? Then this is not the place for you. But if you enjoy being part of a mega-operation and are energised by changes that come at a rapid pace, you’ll have a great career here!
